THEARC

The David Lynch Foundation's Meditation Center at Washington, D.C.'s THEARC (Town Hall Education Arts Recreation Campus) is making a big impact against the epidemic of trauma and toxic stress among at-risk populations, fostering a strong sense of community in underserved neighborhoods.

THEARC was established to serve youth (ages 10+), adults, and seniors, providing Transcendental Meditation education to the residents of Wards 7 & 8, as well as those served through THEARC non-profit partners. The Meditation Center furthers THEARC’s mission of improving the quality of life for children and adults who reside east of the Anacostia River and revitalization of the community in southeastern Washington, D.C.

“When I meditate, I feel calm and like everything is going to be okay. I don’t hold in my anger or have outbursts of rage anymore. If more people learn, I think there will be less violence in the world.”
